Importance of Press Release still in SEO

According to Google new update of 26th Dec that press release has no value for SEO ranking. The new update form Google spam detection team was shocking for everyone because loves content and always gives advantage to those who do quality content promotion.

One of the reason why it was shocking because because press release is one of the best ways to build credible links to a business website. Companies choose Press release over Article marketing due to some more added advantage with press release distribution, which includes branding and media exposure.

Why PR goes down :- In early days search engine index press release and helped in link building for companies. As time goes everybody knows this techniques and people are making miss use of it. Today thousands of press release worthless press release syndication sites. there is so much duplicate content are present on these worth less press release sites.

This could be one of the reason why Google update

Google Panda and Penguin update has already down some SEO tricks. if anybody has knowledge of good SEO then one can understand that over exploited SEO strategies like Press release.

Still google update is not clear some specialist continuously said  thet are getting good results and some are saying that no benefit of doing press release promotion.

Dose PR still work :- An effective an planned press release promotion still produce good release. Most of the companies put less effort into it. If you put in good effort then Press release will show very good results. It depends upon your Press release promotion knowledge.

The Syndication trick :- The real advantage of PR today is not "Anchor Text" or keyword density or promotion on High Page rank Press release sites. the main trick is that you promote your Press release on good PR syndication site and other highly regarded sites. After using these site after that Keyword and Keyword density matters.
Reputaited sites like PRWeb, PRNewswire aew good for promotion and syndication.

So it is clear that PR is still useful but it depends upon how you use it.

On-Page Optimization Importance

Search engine optimization is all about following guidelines of search engine's. When you think you need to promote your website to make online presence of yours. you need to know about little bit about search engine guidelines so that your website got index in search engine and comes on the top results when some search according to their requirements.Again I am you need to follow certain search engine guidelines before start promoting this will give more chance to get your online presence sooner. following these guideline to your website known as On-page optimization..  following are guidelines..


Content optimization: -  Content is one of thing that search engine love to have on your website and the content need to fresh i.e your content need not to be copied from from anywhere. If your site had copied content then it is chance that your site hit by Google Panda update. So make sure your site content is unique and fresh. don't use your main keyword more than 8% on your website webpage.


Title Tag optimization :- Title tag need to be optimized because it is one of the important factor in search engine and according to title tag Google shows your in search result. The length of tile tag not must be greater than 70 char.  

URL optimization:-   The url structure of the website must be follow as the page service. below is the good example of the URL optimization if you show online football.

www.xyz.com/watch-online-football


Meta Keyword optimization :- Google reads meta keywords and know that the what your offering and which keywords you want to appear on Search engine search result.

Meta Description Optimization: - Meta description appears on a Google search results page under the Page Title. The meta description helps people decide whether to visit your site or not. This work kike as call to action for any website. Meta description should follow below guidelines :-

The length of meta description should not more than 150 char.
Use your main keywords in description but in correct form.
Provide very good reason why should people visit your site.

Header Tag optimization :- Your website page should have one H1  tag which should contain a your keyword. This H1 tag should appear at the top of the your web page and should be the first thing people see when they arrive on a page.


Internal Linking :- Your website should  go through the internal linking process. That means if mention the main keywords of this page on other pages within your site, then link to this page using the primary keyword as the anchor text. This process is know as Internal linking and it is very important.

Image optimization:- As we know that the search engine can read images so that image optimization is very important. Optimize the most prominent image on the page using the primary keyword, and then use the primary and secondary keywords for any other images. Images optimization can be done in two ways:

File name: Each word should be separated with dashes (-), e.g. dentist-newdelhi
ALT text: The alt text should match the file name, without dashes, e.g. Dentist NewDelhi

Canonical error:- Your site must not have Canonical error. Due to Canonical error search engine may understand that your site is having duplicate page and content.
example of if your site having canonical error :- if your site is opening with and without www then your site have canonical error.

this is due to canonical error you need to use 301 redirect for  to remove this error.

Robots.txt  File error :- When a search engine visits your site, it looks for a specific file known as robots.txt file and it tell search crawler which page should be indexed and which web page should be ignored.so it is important to have Robots.txt file in your website.

Penguin 2.1 update

October 4th Google has update 5th edition of the penguin update named as Penguin 2.1. It has not same as impact as penguin 2.0 has. It affects only 1% of the Google search. This is Google's new Spam Hunting algorithm.This is Google 5th Penguin update.

What is Penguin Update:-

Google first 
launched Penguin update in April 2012 better catch sites results to be spamming its search result. This update hit those sites and decreased those sites ranking which was violating Google Webmaster Guideline or doing Black hat SEO techniques which involve in increasing artificially the ranking of a webpage by manipulating the number of links pointing to page.
First Penguin had hit 3.1% of English Website and 3% of other language website search result.

After new first Penguin update google has updates several penguin update and the latest update known as Penguin 2.1 and unlike other update this update hit less number of sites approximately .97 to 1 % of sites search result.

Some of reason why your site is hit by Google penguin update:-

a. Paid Backlinks
b. Low quality backlinks
c. large no of backlinks with optimized anchor text
d. Excessive no of link exchange
e. Text advertisement that pass page rank

Penguin updates so far

Penguin 1.0   24th April 2012
Penguin 1.2   26th May 2012
Penguin 1.3   Oct 2012
Penguin 2.0  May 2013  and the latest
Penguin 2.1 Oct 2013

Now we are directly coming to Penguin 2.1.

After announcing Google Penguin 2.1 Google has said that this update will affect only 1% of site search result. This Update will not have same effect as same penguin 2.0 has but still it will affect those sites which are doing spamming of anchor text mainly.



Before recovery from Penguin you must know Is that your site has been hit by Google update.

I personally recommend you to continuously monitor your search traffic not of PPC campaign (if running) after a Google update. If your traffic is down dramatically drops during this time, it's due to a Penguin update. Monitor your traffic from Google analytics.

Recovery from Penguin 2.1 :- 

Their are several you need to follow to recover from Google penguin update.

Step 1 :- Identify the Bad backlinks.
Step 2 :- Remove as many as bad backlinks.
Step 3 :- Disavow remaining links
Step 4 :- File a Google reconsideration request 
Step 5 :- Execute a Quality and strategic content marketing campaign.

Conclusion:- 

Google penalty can be very hard to recover some time, but if you have done hard work for getting back your traffic and Google search engine ranking, then Google will reconsider it and you will get back your ranking.
